Basil McCrea rejects UUP flag stance - Headlines - Belfast Newsletter

    Power to your elbow Sir.

" The Lagan Valley MLA told the News Letter: “Lisburn City Council, which is unionist-dominated, has had designated days as its policy for a long time.

“Part of that is because we should be doing what is commonplace in the rest of United Kingdom. The Union Flag should not be used as a political pawn – it should be respected properly. "

The flag is now respected properly - even by SF. - What do Loyalists want - Dictorship?

Don't think he'll last long in the UUP at this stage! He wouldn't confirm or deny whether he would join the Alliance party or not on the radio yesterday.

Heard him on Talkback yesterday. A thinking and reasonable man, as opposed to Mr. Media Nesbitt who seems to think he is the spokesperson for unionism.

I have been saying it for some time, McCrea is in the wrong party and won't fight the next election as a UUP candidate. Nor will John McCallister.

It’s frightening - and indeed telling - how much of a rare breed they appear to be.

Looks like moderates in the UUP like Basil McCrea are being pushed into the arms of Alliance.

When unionism is threatened they back themselves into a corner as can be seen by their ' flag (RIOTS) protests'. It's the last kick of a dying racist breed, Affrikaners were the same.
