Default HSE hires motivational coaches to give senior managers ‘morale boost’

HSE hires motivational coaches to give senior managers ‘morale boost’ - National News - Independent.ie

Having worked on projects for the HSE, this is simply astounding. Its just more waste on an INCREDIBLY wasteful organisation. There are simply too many back office managers. They are on too much money and many of them have little value-add work to do. When the health boards merged, they should have been laid off. Instead they created processes and workflows which keeps them in 'roles' but which also stifles productivity and service.

What ever happened to the 3,000 excess managers and administrators in the HSE?

Did they retire and take the €200,000 tax free lump sum??

That's all very true but from your link:
“The HSE has seen a significant reduction in the number of senior and middle managers over the past number of years through various redundancy and early retirement schemes and the current employment moratorium.

“A pilot succession management programme to identify suitable managers and provide on-the-job development for them has been put in place."
I'd wonder what exact services these coaches are going to provide (what is a 'motivational' coach) before I would feel comfortable condemning this as an example of HSE waste.

I don't know why they call motivational coaching 'motivational'. It makes me want to bleed out ..

The "new managers" are clearly not up to the job if they need a motivational coach!

I do not think there are the type of words in the English language that can accurately convey how stupid and wasteful this 'morale boosting' idea is..............but I will give it a go

It's amazing the money tree in the Dail, money can be found for this, 250,000 for aid to the USA, money for Africa, money for trips to various countries, money to pay for increments for PS, money to break pay caps, top up pensions the list goes on. Money however cannot be found for anything that benefits the Taxpayer.

Quite a lot of the "new managers" are still on their old pay and conditions. There are numerous examples through the HSE of people taking over senior management duties on so called "expressions of interest". These managers have been in role since Feb or March this year, sometimes before, but they are still paid at a the salary of their official contractual employment, which is much lower. Due to a complete recruitment freeze these managers will continue to fulfill these duties, without recompense, long into the future.
