    Default RIP Dave Brubeck

The great man has passed at the age of 91. Superb musician and was aptly described as a living legend. RIP.

He had a good run for his money, though. Surely the last of the greats from that era to go.

A master at the irregular time signature.

    From 5/4 to 9/8...

The original quartet back together again.

    RIP, Mr. Brubeck.

A huge talent & a huge loss. Yet another joins the great sky gig.

Time Out , the best known and most successful album which was more of an experiment, hit Number 2 on the Billboard charts and he didn't even write his biggest song!! Love the idea of Cannery Row as an jazz opera.

God be with the days when an album of "experimental music" could produce things like Take Five and Blue Rondo a La Turk, huh?

And Paul Desmond, Take Five's actual writer, was surely one of the most underacknowledged white alto players of all time.

Yep such a lovely pure sound. Seems a good time to be playing the album again and he's just superb on Strange Meadow Lark.
