Default Another Taxpayer funded junket for Healy Eames

The country is in administration. There will be more cuts to education. Quinn went back on his promise re third level fees.

Yet there is plenty of money for Healy Eames and 26 overpaid principals to go on a taxpayer junket to China for a week to learn about the culture.

What are we talking here, 4/5k a head maybe?

Local Fine Gael Senator, Fidelma Healy Eames, is to lead a week long educational trip to China

The Senator and a delegation comprising twenty six educators, principals and deputy principals leave tomorrow morning

With Chinese being introduced to the junior cert in 2014 the purpose of the trip is to research the teaching and learning of the Chinese language and culture

Senator Healy Eames says it's important teachers understand the language and culture

How many Chinese people live in Ireland? Just as easily asked them about Chinese culture!

The question really is how this benefits the country or the state in any way, the answer is that it doesn't. Just more hypocrisy and gombeenisim from the ruling Junta.

These incessant junkets for councillors and worthless senators were laughably unjustifiable in the times of plenty. Now they are obscene.

How onn Earth will researching how the Chinese language is taught to Chinese people help in any way to teach the Chinese language to Irish people

They would be better suited to ensuring the Irish language is taught properly in schools but I guess Dingle would not be as attractive a junket

I cannot see or imagine any justification for this.

What I'm wondering is, why do presumably well educated people need to have their hands held by an inexperienced, rural politician on a visit to China?

    Is she fluent in Mandarin?
Abortion is an act of violence. Violence demeans humanity, particularly violence against women and children.
