Default Family Relationships and children bill (2013)

Irish gay parents to receive greater legal protection - PinkNews.co.uk

Alan Shatter announced that he is working on legislation to give gay couples raising children equal parental rights. The move has been welcomed by GLEN(Gay and Lesbian Equality Network). Hopefully it'll be enacted by late 2013

This may be good for the Zappone and Gilligan case currently before the SC. I can't remember all the details but when it was in the highcourt Judge Dunne looked at legislation as the gauge of irish opinion on the issue of gay marriage (the constitution being a living document - subject to the changing moral views of different generations), and the most recent legislation pertaining to marriage at that time had not treated same-sex couples as being in any way similar to married, heterosexual couples. This, combined with civil partnership legislation, could tip things the other way if the SC judges choose to follow the same line of thought as Elizabeth Dunne.

I think you might be confusing this with a certain referendum.

Or he could just legislate for full marriage equality.
    Repeal the 27th.

I don't think it's actually been written yet.
