Default Brendan Howlin: Supplementary budget now on the cards for Dept of Health

After weeks and weeks of denying there would be the need for a supplementary budget for health arising from cost overruns in the dept of health, this afternoon Brendan Howlin announced in the Dail it will most likely have to happen.

The opposition made plenty of noises about this but Reilly was having none of it. Well it seems he is not managing his portfolio too well, he ain't balancing the books.

This must be the straw that breaks the camels back. James Reilly is unfit for office and should be removed without delay. He has tried and failed and the Taoiseach must now relieve him of his portfolio.

    Are you trolling?

    I've mentioned it before.

Fianna Fáilers are in no position to claim someone else is "unfit for office".

So you have to be in a position to state the obvious. Rather clever.

Not just Reilly, but the whole government is a bit of a joke now.

There is no leadership - we seem to be stumbling from crisis to crisis. People across all walks of life are making do with less, but our "leaders" - people elected and paid to manage the country and restore some sense of control and balance - seem incapable of this job.

I've worked on two corporate recovery projects in my career and one thing you need is a sense of direction and a strong leader. We have neither...we are genuinely rudderless and it's beginning to feel a bit like the dying days of the FF regime all over again - supplemental pollyfilla budgets, policy U-turns and now we're even alking about CPA II.
    The more things change....

Reilly should be gone, but so should Howlin. A Harry Potter Lego minifigure perched comically on each of their desks would do a better job than either of them.

    Not to worry.

The plan he's just released will sort everything out....

This Government just gets better and better.
