Default Irish Times apologizes to Sen. Rónán Mullen

Senator Ronan Mullen apology - The Irish Times - Mon, Nov 12, 2012

An article published in the edition of April 23rd last, concerning a meeting in the Dáil on seeking the legalisation of abortion in certain cases reported dialogue between Senator Ronan Mullen and one of the lobbyists present.

Senator Mullen was contacted by an Irish Times reporter who accepted his invitation to revert to him if any specific allegations were made about what was said by him at the meeting.

A specific allegation was made and was reported in our article but it was not put to Senator Mullen beforehand.

This led to a disputed version of events being reported.

The article was not complete and was unfair to Senator Mullen and The Irish Times apologises to him for the error.

We also acknowledge that an addendum comment placed beneath a subsequent letter of clarification from Senator Mullen did not clarify his position.
This pertains to an altercation between a pair that claimed Sen. Mullen was very rude and intimidating towards them, well reported at the time.

    Apparently untrue.

There is nothing in the post about the fact that the women alleged that Senator Mullin smirked his way though their presentation.

Just because some people who obviously are completely opposed to Rónán Mullen make some unsubstantiated allegation to embarrass him, that doesn't mean that they are telling the truth.

Coveney's ambition is the be Ireland's next EU Commissar and Ireland will pay a price as he builds his CV to position himself sufficiently loyal to the nEU empire.

It's really hard to believe that Mullen behaved in that manner, and I suspect that Irish Times report was incorrect. He has a reputation on all sides of being an exceptionally genial and friendly character, if a tad zealous on the social issues.

It's not apparently untrue - it's disputed. The reason the Times had to apologize to Mullen was because they didn't give him a fair chance to tell his side of the story.
    Repeal the 27th.

I saw Ivana Bacik devour a fetus yesterday, seriously. Can you prove I'm wrong? So obviously this is 'disputed'...

What's your definition of something being disputed?
