Default Bram Stoker - Born 8th November 1847.

1847: Dracula author Bram Stoker is born in Dublin.

    Bram Stoker 1847-1912

    .

Stoker was bed-ridden for much of his childhood, but lived a relatively healthy life during his adulthood. Educated at Trinity College, he moved to London in 1878 and married actress Florence Balcombe. Dracula received some praise on its publication. (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle praised it highly) but it was not until the movie Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi opened in 1931 that vampire mania really took off.

“We learn from failure, not from success.” – Bram Stoker

The Dracula stories used to terrify me as a child, but they were also compelling, his story about Dracula has given us many great films and Buffy The Vampire Slayer to boot. Has anyone else any thoughts on this?

SIL, we got our dog (in the avatar there) when he was only 5 weeks old, before his Mother could put manners on him, we had to keep saying to him "no bities, lickkies"!

When my Nephew was here from Cork and they were all watching Buffy, my youngest shouted at the vampire on the TV "no bities, likkies", I thought that the Nephew would have a fit laughing.

Blood sucking parasite is modern day bankers and politicians, not for the History section.

It's sad really that the story of Dracula didn't kick off until Bram Stoker died. The best film was "VanHelsing", made a few years ago, the worst is any of the "Twilight" films, gawd awful.
