    Default Adolf Hitler, the traditional Irish music fan.

    Many Germans have shown an interest in traditional Irish music over the years, but this is one is news to me.
    Apparently Sean Dempsey also played at the 1936 Olympics, which presumably was when this happened. I'd be interested to know if anyone can throw any more light on this event.

    I recall reading an article a few years back (one of the Irish papers) where some Irish Uileann-piper is across in Germany and has to play before Hitler along with a lot of other folk musicians from around Europe. When his time for performance comes up, there was no chair. You can't play the uileann pipes standing up. So Auf Befehl Herrn Fuehrer! one of the SA or SS men was ordered to kneel down on all fours and he served as the chair for our bowld lad who did his jigs and reels before Adolf. Not the most romantic setting but there you are. I think it might have been at the Olympics... but I just don't recall the detail of names and such.
    done my best.

    Your search - " Hitlers love of Irish traditional music " - did not match any documents.

    Suggestions:

    * Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
    * Try different keywords.
    * Try more general keywords.

    Axis History Forum suggests that Hitler's musical tastes were of the classical variety
    (Wagner, Mozart, Beethoven)

    It's hardly unusual to like various musical styles of course. I do anyway.

    One of the few good stories out of the second world war. They say war brings out the worst and the best of people... do some research on William Patrick Hitler. It's the Hitler Irish connection
    You wouldn't believe it over the Pie boards.
    This is not a joke
