Here we go again. Another exclusive from the sindo. The dogs on the street know that politicians get tons of requests for all sorts of stuff that they never get to read. For this they have secretaries and PAs who do the "yes Minister" stuff.

Now if people were discouraged to be applying to their local TDs in matters that do not realate to the political issue articles like this would never be born. As Shatter is alleged to have said:
I note she has instructed a solicitor who should be able to give comprehensive advice to her on the issues.
The day a politician dares to lose a vote by telling his constituents that he is not a local councillor, the passport office, a mediator in a planning application and certainly not a funeral director, we might get to seeing a bit of real commitment to the job of TD.

Will there be a Garda investigation into this and is this a serious breach of his office?

Although as it is a Sindo article it must be taken with caution.

How could he not know that he had no business interfering in such a matter?

Staff members pass all sorts of correspondence around, that's hardly the Taoiseach's fault.

And to hear that FF are trying to make political capital of it, is just laughable considering their track record in making representations on behalf of rapists, murderers and other criminals.

We really need to see the back of this type of FF opportunistic shíte.

I would think that the Taoiseach's office could reply to the constituent and say that it would
be inappropriate for him to inquire about the matter since it was a Family Law case.
Or if he did not know that it was inappropriate himself one would think that one of his highly paid advisors would have the cop-on to know.

Yes, here we go again indeed! Another in an increasingly long line of silly P.ie threads promoting and publicizing the rag that is the Sindo.

Booby Molloy had to resigins for contacting a Judge in a case. Trevor Sargent had to resigin for contacting a Garda in relation to a case. Alan Shatter has probably saved Kenny from his own stupidity on this one as it looks like no inappropriate representations were made.

If Fianna Fail we're in power you would wonder if any Minister would have the integrity to stand up to a Taoiseach like that. It was the cause of a lot of their problems. That and electing crooks as Taoiseach in the first place.
