I wonder if this is the same Gerry Ruddy from South Down that was prominent at Queen's University in the late 1960s? If it is, bloody hell! All the QUB students spouted this Marxist bilge back then (including myself) but most of them grew up. This waster is still at it 40 years later. I remember him making an emotional speech in the Whitla Hall around 1969 or 70 in which he triumphantly proclaimed that Ireland would soon be the Cuba of Europe, an offshore island under socialist control from which Revolution would spread to the rest of Europe. Not the most accurate prediction ever made.

I just don't have the time or energy to read, let alone respond in substance, to this bilge. Suffice to say that his depiction of the NICRA is simply wrong. It was never about a United Ireland, which is why it attracted good cross-community support at first. The Provo's then emerged to queer that pitch.

What is the IRSPs connection with the INLA?

What is it exactly you dont agree with? Try to hold back on the personal insults mate, i think gerry would not be the type to label you a waster behind your back, didnt your mammy teachyou basic manners?

I believe he was saying it was about democratic rights, not a united Ireland.

A typical overblown and self justifying diatribe from a member of a small little clique with no popular support at all.

If he had just said 'well it the Provos who sold out and once we couldn't ride on their back anymore we jacked it in too' then it would have been more honest. Also kinder on those who bothered to wade through the unimportant drivel.

The IRSP position has been distinct from the provisionals since its creation, they were always distinct and never rode on the backs of the provos. You show a lack of knowledge of the organisation and hatred for it which blinds your ability to debate the article,so anyone who actually has an ounce of political depth please step forward, the political sectarianism is getting tiresome.
