    I'm sure he is not retiring because he doesn't want to claim the kudos for successful cases.

    This is not a good omen for people expecting to see some successful prosecutions of Anglo and other rouge bankers.

    He did a superb job and performed very well...IMO.

    As the very first appointee, he had to set up a system that co-ordinated all strands of investigative sources.

    I think it was Mary Harney who appointed him and I think he did a great service to this country.

    I know of that one. I just thought there might be real investigations I didn't know about instead of that smokescreen.

    He's been repeatedly let down in terms of concrete support by the Govts of the day, not surprising he's not going to stick it out. There's a myriad of reasons as to why he might be going though.

    As an employee of the ODCE, is he considered a public servant, and possibly therefore retiring for pension reasons? (today being the deadline)
