    Default Best Political Books

What are the best political books people have read?

I am thinking of stuff that deals with aparticular short period or incident or modern politics. It would be good if we could build up a politics.ie canon of essential political treatises!

Reasons to be cheerful by Mark Steele is funny.
John Charles McQuaid by John Cooney is rivering.
The 6 day war by Jeremy Bowen (I think) is fascinating.
Cosgraves by Stephen Collins is a good read.

The big fat Yorkshire guy who was Deputy leader of the British Labour party wrote an account of 50 years in politics, Wojeus.

But my favourite is The making of the president by a US reporter, an account of the 1960 US election. Brilliant stuff.

Ive read Gerry Adams books. I dare someone to tell me they are works of literary genius.

The biography of the UDA by Henry (??) is spinechilling.

Actual morality is doing what is right regardless of what you're told. Religious morality is doing what you're told, regardless of if it's right.
