Default Cowen played golf with Fitzpatrick before guarantee

Taoiseach must come clean on all dealings with FitzPatrick: Burton · TheJournal.ie

FORMER CHIEF OF Anglo Irish Bank Sean FitzPatrick has revealed that he played golf and had dinner with Brian Cowen just two months before the state introduced the bank guarantee scheme in 2008.

The Sunday Times reveals that the then finance minister met with FitzPatrick in July 20o8 and also spoke to him over the phone in March 2008, at which point he was informed that there was an issue with the bank shares held by Seán Quinn. The taosieach has confirmed both contacts.

We've had Gargle-Gate, now it's time for Golfgate (or Caddyshackled) as the country got a 'hole in one' bank, while the taoiseach was stuck in a bunker.

    Seriously though, he should resign.

Here we go again, yet another case of Clowen misleading the Dail. What we have here is FF croneyism, the Taoiseach playing golf with the Chairman of the worst bank in the history of banking in terms of almost (remains to be seen) bringing down a country and a currency. As he says himself "it is not credible" to believe that he did not discuss the state of Anglo Irish or the guarantee at this time. Clowen is up to his neck in this, we all know now that Anglo should not have been included in the bank gaurantee. We have never been told why they were, but it becomes more obvious as time passes. Clowen and Lendahand were once again protecting their cronies using taxpayers money. It is no wonder the organs of the state are dragging their feet on bringing these crooks to book.

Perhaps the most astonishing part of that story is we are asked to believe that Cowen walked for about 4 hours , the usual length of time it takes to play golf ( don't play myself ). Or did one of the party lackeys carry him around ?

Made Marion mentioned it at the top of her programme, then immediately steered the conversation away to the US congresswoman shooting. Classic.

Cowen // FF must go, go now. Whatever self respect you have left, use it wisely.
