Five men have been convicted by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin of membership of the Real IRA.
Three of the men, John Murphy
(aged 25), (Old Mallow Road), Gerard Varian
(aged 46), (Bride Valley Park, in Fairhill), and Aidan O'Driscoll
(aged 25) (Glenheights Park, in Ballyvolane) are from Cork.
The other two men, Ciaran O'Dwyer
(aged 50), (Castletroy View) and Ultan Larkin
(aged 34), (Farranshone), are from Limerick.
O'Dwyer is reportedly the head of the Real IRA in Munster and Larkin is said to be his second in command.
All five had denied the charges. They have now been remanded in custody for sentencing at a later date.
