Default Minister Killeen on PDF numbers: Newstalk Breakfast

On Newstalk Breakfast during the 9-10pm slot Ivan Yates asked him to give 3 examples of improved public service productivity in the Dept of Defence, he said he could not, then Ivan asked for 3 examples across the entire public service, which again he seemed not to be able to. Eventually he said that the PDF had cut their numbers from 16000 to just under 10000!

I did a double take there. I do not think the PDF was ever at 16000 except during the Civil War and the Emergency. Can anyone clarify as otherwise the Minister of Defence was telling complete lies on Newstalk.

You can listen back to it on the Newstalk website.

PS from a google search I see that it was circa 15000 during the 1990's.

He came out with the same rubbish when pressed by SO'R on RTE's NAO. These leeching spongers just keep telling lies. Can they ever tell the truth unless one is threatening to mark an ABFF box on the ballot paper ? The ABFF parties are just the same anyway. All liars and cheats, every last one of them. The only person that they represent is themselves.

Asking a minister anything about his department outside of Dail Question time is a waste of time. They don't know and don't care. The only ones who know what really goes on are the civil servants who provide him with answers to PQs every month.

As far as the minister is concerned, his job in defence is to visit barracks, take guards of honour, and occasionally be photographed next to a soldier, pretending to look interested in some foreign place where Irish troops are sent.

Thank you for posting this further example of the perfidious nature of this government. Yet another betrayal of the trust placed in them by the electorate!!

How dare Killeen utter such an untruth, does he not understand the hugely deterimental effect not knowing how many soldiers there are will have on efforts to bring us out of the recession?

Lets get them out now and bring in a party of sobriety, truth, experience, capable of sorting out the financial mess and who know just how many soldiers we have -

Its great to see Smiling Tony has such a great grasp of his portfolio - I wonder will the people of Clare be foolish in reelecting such a spoofer.
From great tragedy emerges great art.
