Default British Nuclear Submarine runs ground off Isle of Skye

The Royal Navy needed this like a hole in the head with the week that is in it. The HMS Astute, the newest and most modern submarine in the Royal Navy, has run aground off the Isle of Skye. Looking at the video attached to the BBC report is gas. The Captain describing how high-tech it is, fly by wire technology, fibre optic persicopes etc, the Captain even pointing out that there are no 'steering wheels' needed to manovere the sub as it is all done at the push of a button - gas altogether. You could not make it up.

"The stealthiest ever built in the UK"

But it can't move and its sticking up out of the water like a beached whale!?

"Aside from attack capabilities, it is able to sit in waters off the coast undetected, delivering the UK's special forces where needed "

    Where, Scotland?

"The 39,000 acoustic panels which cover its surface mask its sonar signature, meaning it can sneak up on enemy warships and submarines alike, or lurk unseen and unheard at depth."

    Ooooh stealthy!

I reckon the Captain, or the Officer on deck, as the case may be, will be for the high jump. Commanding some depot in Swansea will be that person's next appointment.

This thing is supposed to be able to drive itself, yet went straight through the buoys and into the rocks?

    British engineering.

I had a Rover once, it never done what it was supposed to either ie. drive.

Speed bonny boat like a bird on the wing over the sea to Skye
Carry the load that is born to be King and crash when you touch the Skye.
Loud the waves crash, loud the crew roar, curses and swears rent the air.
Vanquished the foe, faces all red, wallow they would arsed bare.
