Longhua Science & Technology Park in China, otherwise known as Foxconn City, is the manufacturing base of Foxconn, the company that makes everything from the iPhone to the Nintendo WII.
Covering about 1.16 square miles (3 square km), it includes 15 factories, worker dormitories, a fire brigade, as well as a downtown complete with a grocery store, bank, restaurants, bookstore and hospital. Workers live, work and eat inside the complex, which broadcasts its own television network, Foxconn TV.
Approx. 450,000 people work in Foxconn city.
Meanwhile, back in Ireland, we pay people €8.65 per hour to operate a cash register in Tesco.
