Default If YFG Declared No Confidence in Enda Kenny

It's just a theory I had after reading the SBP over the weekend, referring of course to Waterford IT Young Fine Gael's plans to have a Confidence motion in Enda to which he was not one bit pleased.

But if YFG as a whole were to declare no confidence, what would happen?

YFG are the only autonomous youth party and already have several policies which differ from the senior party line...so it's not as if they haven't been known to disagree with the Grown Up Party.....

As soon as the yellow teeshirts appear ( worn by young people who can't get a job) then Enda should resign.

Probably nothing. Young Fine Gael boast of their independence from the parent party which of course cuts both ways. Mind you in fairness the same could be said of any of the youth wings. What would be more interesting about a rejection of Kenny would be what it would say about young Fine Gael, and by extension Fine Gael in ten years time when the delegates have ascend the party ranks. Also would a YFG rejection of Kenny really be an endorsement of Richard Bruton, Michael Noonan are whoever else, or a rejection of the seemingly faded and jaded Fine Gael of today, the party leadership in its majority?

I feel sorry for enda kenny, really he gets blamed for fg being unpopular in the polls but its not his fault, the real reason fg are unpopular is because they are just like ff only more right wing.

Spotty will tell you exactly what would happen:

Some enterprising young nerd will suggest the idea - having gotten much too big for his boots.

The idea will reach Barry Walshe's ears. Barry Walshe will panic like a girl. He will then tell Susie O'Connor.

Susie O'Connor will tell somebody upstairs. The person upstairs will shout at Susie and tell her to get the little twerp(s) back in line.

Barry Walshe will be dispatched to post here, anonymously, that whoever is doing it is evil.

Susie O'Connor will be told to find an excuse to declare any such motion illegal.

Somebody, somewhere, will write an overwraught letter of resignation. They may, if they are particularly ambitious, leak it to the phoenix. Unfortunately, Barry Walshe will have gotten there before them and told the phoenix that the person(s) involved are evil.

The proposal will be muttered about for a while longer. There will then be a motion at the YFG exec level to support Enda.

    The motion will be passed.

Barry Walshe will then instruct that news of the motion be sent to the press, under the headline "YFG express confidence in Enda".

    Nobody will carry it.

    We will all laugh.

Spotty would bet his house on it.
Spotty. A pimple on the arse of politics.
