Default 10% of Germans want a Führer ; Merkel responds: multiculturism is a failure

The Eurointelligence bulletin which covers mainly econmic news and frequently general news has news on a striking opinion poll.

10% is a fair whack of them. Dont have the sample size. Anyone in Germany able to shed light on this.

10% of Germans want a Führer
This is a disturbing poll from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, which shows that a growing numbers of Germans are becoming disillusioned with democracy. 10% want a Führer, according to the poll, 25% favour a national party that represents that the entire country. A third says the country has too many foreigners (with significant difference between a generally more racist east Germany and a less extreme west Germany). 90% say there is no point in political engagement, as it makes no difference. Unsurprisingly, the result of this study is in all German newspapers.

the institute who did the poll. Seems to be some confusion as to what was implied by the term Fuhrer - Hitler type figure or a strong leader.

suspect the media got a bit carried away but thought i'd throw oit out in case any folks living in Germany had a view on it

Well a Führer is just a leader (in german). We could do with one ourselves. 25% wanting national government. That might not be so different here either. So, it's long way from there to say they are disillusioned with democracy.

Perhaps what it really means is that people want their nation to have a sense of self and its destiny, rather then the meaningless, post political, soup we get now in Europe.

Don't see much wrong in what they want. Fair play to them.

Don't know now Mister men, ya have to keep an eye on them. I spent some time in Bavaria, couple years, merciful hour, they seem to have a parade every Sunday for something or other. They love uniforms and flags and even though they lost two, wars.
