Default 'There will be blood' - Political Fight Night, Friday November 26th

We've all been there, it is a dull Monday night, and for some reason your watching the Frontline. You lack the clarity of thought to change the channel, and you are watching two clowns from opposite parties waffling on and on and on. And then, it becomes clear - wouldn't politics be much better if instead of spouting inanities, the two of them would square off, and settle their differences with their fists.

Well, here is your chance. This November 26th, the Battle of Dublin White Collar Boxing at the Santry Crowne Plaza will bring together TDs, Councillors and Election Candidates from all the main political parties who will be fighting for three rounds.

Those that have signed up include Fianna Fáil's Darragh O'Brien TD and Averil Power, Councilors Alan O'Kelly and Neale Richmond from Fine Gael, Labour Councilors Cian O'Callaghan, Killian Forde and Aodhan O'Riordan and Donna Cooney from the Greens. It promises to be a great night, and tickets start off at €25 and are going fast.

It is in support of the Dublin Boxing Leagues 2010/11 season. Since 1995, an Irish based international company has sponsored the Boxing Leagues. However, due to the current economic climate, they have unfortunately had to withdraw their sponsorship for the foreseeable future and this event will fill the gap. More details and ticket details are available at:

I'd like to see Cian O'Callaghan fight Killian Forde for a place on the DNE Labour ticket with Tommy Broughan. Doesn't have to be in a boxing ring, any old car park would do.
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

How does it say it all?

"White Collar Boxing" is the agreed term for an event of this kind which sees people who've never boxed before pitted against each other to raise money for a good cause. Stop being such a pedantic begrudger

I'd be keen to see a few of these in the ring, I could see Daragh O'Brien getting a bit of a hiding from Neale Richmond, both big fella's

Trinity Boys Boxing Club is an excellent cause.

It's just a pity there's no Trinity Boys Gladiator Fight to the Death Club.
