The French intelligentsia are up in arms over plans by the socialist mayor of Paris, Bernard Delanoe, to ban under-18's from an exhibit by the American photographer Larry Clark as it contains a number of sexual images among the work. The exhibit, which focuses on teen lifestyles, opens this weekend at the Paris Museum of Modern Art.
Liberation, one of France's big three national dailies, is leading the campaign against the age restriction by putting one of the more explicit images on its cover tomorrow:

I think Liberation are correct: It's a bit silly to put an age restriction on the exhibit - especially banning older teens - but this is a very dramatic way of making that point. And I'm sure all the hype the cover will generate will do no harm to their sales figures either, not that that fact ever crossed their minds
