Default Brits retreat from Massereene as Republican Resistance grows

Soldiers pulled out of Massereene Army barracks

    Wednesday, 6 October 2010

Hundreds of troops have been moved out of the military base where two soldiers were murdered last year.

About 450 engineers were transferred from Massereene Army barracks in Antrim to another camp at Aldergrove.

The move comes amid increased dissident republican acitivity in the area, although the MoD has said the decision was not prompted by security concerns.

Last year Sappers Mark Quinsey (23) and Patrick Azimkar (21) were gunned down as they collected pizza from the gates of the Massereene hours before they deployed to Afghanistan.

Five others were also seriously wounded in the attack that was claimed by the Real IRA.

Then perhaps the MOD could explain such a massive shaekup in logistics. 450 troops is not a tea-party.

Utter rubbish Cael to portray this as a major retreat and by implication for your colleagues in micro -republican world. Most dissidents are squealing as soon as they see a cell and the criminal infested ranks guarantee a steady stream of informers . Your only comfort is that the Brits are not allowed to do a Loughgall (yet) in case more illiterate youth sign up for a futile cause.Keep bombing Doire !

Will find out ,one attack would not justify the movement ,it has not been under constant bombardment .

I don't understand what this thread is about. Is it some sort of celebration of a victory by murdering thugs? And the use of the description "Brits" is insulting. We all have family somewhere in England,Scotland or Wales. Why this endless hatred against our neighbors across the pond.Including our Celtic brothers and sisters in Scotland,Wales,Cornwall. This nonsense has to end.

It's about 350 more than your lot has. Skangers. You represent nobody in this country. You're traitors to what the vast, vast majority of what we, the Irish people, actually want and voted for. You're fascists, trying to impose your wingnut vision on us, a vision we don't want. Go away. Just go the f£&k away.

You calling anyone a fascist is certainly a bizarre turn of events. We saw how much democracy there is in Ireland when the people voted the "wrong" way in the Nice and Lisbon referenda.

Theres more to consider than an isolated attack. We don't know the specifics - but given the track history of the RIRA, that is, attacking Brits at their own front gates and tunnelling into bases, the onus is on you to find a more plausible explanation, because the word 'retreat' is the only apt word here.
