Coldest winter in 1,000 years on its way - RT

This ties in with numerous reports of a very negative NAO which is known to tie in with cold winters in western europe

Well, it will probably be the coldest winter for those whose social welfare payments get cut in the upcoming budget.

it has long been argued that as a result of global warming the gulf stream would reduce its influence over western europe thereby ironically leading to colder winters in europe

This article doesn't even say who's making the 1000 year claim! Vadim Zavodchenkov is quoted but he makes no quote that supports such a thing. The Gulf Stream is mentioned but again without reference to who made these measurements or where they were published.

So global warming will lead to an ice age.

This should rattle a few cages. I can hear the violent crass clicking of keyboard buttons as we speak.

Boy if only there was some way to understand that the planet could warm overall while particular regions experience a range of different effects including localised cooling. That's just far too complicated though.
