Not exactly confident on the "final" nama figures is he? Very cautious.

Only loans over 20 mill are going to NAMA. Someone should tell VB.

And maybe he'll ask PH about this stunt revealed by the Business Post on Sunday -

This is manageable and there is a political elite to manage it

    Is PH really FT?

Wasn't it lovely to hear that the "manageable" bit is to reassure the markets et al!?!?

Either it is or it isn't!!

    Im very apprehensive.

Honohans admitted his reassurance that Ireland can manage this problem was targetted at the foreign market and not the domestic market.

He is basing his faith on a political elite that will do all this.

It does not seem possible for Irish govts to slash 4 billion from budgets every year for the next 4 years.

The next four budgets are 'manageable' when we're talking to the markets, but they're a 'catastrophe' at home......

He did not sound very convincing. More or less said that the manageable story is spin for the International Markets, while the reality for the tax payer is different.

As for the Bank bailout, it looks like Peter Matthews 62 billion is looking more like the figure.

He sounded like a man who has tried to convince himself that everything would be alright, but failed and does not want anybody else to feel his pain.

"Manageable" implies scorched earth post-apocalyptic devastation at home.

    Imagine Cormac McCarthy's "The Road".
