Default 400,000 Euros and killing 200 mink for 6 Corncrakes

Piece from Indo about a week ago about money spent to boost corncrake numbers - by six! What is of also interest is the action taken to kill 200 mink in the vicinity to protect the corncrake population.

€400,000 to boost bird population by just six - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

Is this acceptable or should nature be allowed take its course and let the corncrake go the way of the dodo? Please comment. Contributions from animal rightists especially welcome.

the farmers seem to be making a few bob from it...

i think protecting the species is worth protecting but I suspect there is a better way to do it

    Default ....like the dodo?

The map in the Collins Nature Guide (1994 ed) Birds of Britain and Europe, gives Crex Crex a distribution through a huge stretch of eastern europe from Finland to Greece and west to France (but it does also show all of Ireland to be infested with the nuisances, which knocks the credibility a bit).

Why not say what you think, rather than just hinting at it?

The greenies and environmentalists need to be put in a box a locked away for good.

Did you see their video for killing the people who dont agree with them? The greens are dangerous animals and should all be locked up in their cages where they belong.
