Default Strange but true - Germany to finally finish paying WW1 reparations

Bizarrely enough, only this weekend will Germany finally pay off the last of the interest on the loans taken out to repay the reparations forced on it by the Treaty of Versailles.

While celebrating the 20th anniversary of German unification on Sunday, the country will make its final payment for reparations as outlined in the Treaty of Versailles that concluded World War I, Der Spiegel reported.

The payment will be the final installment of interest on foreign bonds Germany issued in the inter-war period to raise necessary funds to pay reparations to the Allies following its defeat 92 years ago.

"On Sunday, the last bill is due," declared the German newspaper Bild this week, "and the first world war finally, financially at least, terminates for Germany."
Are they in some sense still fighting the war?

We could learn a lot from them. We will be paying for at least as long!

    lol....
When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity.

The people of this country may still be paying reparations for the actions of Fianna Fail in 90 years time.
