Yes, and Cowen and Lenihan promised to give us the final number for Anglo before the end of the month.

This government wouldn't know the truth if it hit them in the face.

It will not stop the High Court action by Doherty. It is a move by the government to try to appease the court IMO.

the fact that they will "commit" to Q1 2011 but won't commit to a specific date shows just how real a "commitment" it is.

Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has welcomed the setting of a date for a hearing of his case against the Government over its failure to hold the Donegal South West by-election. The case has scheduled for listing on 18th October with a view to having the case heard that week subject to the court’s availability.

Easter is late next year, so I suspect they may move the writs in March and use the Easter break for the campaign. I'd guess a date of 28th/29th April for voting. The intention could then be to limp on until the summer break.

The IT is saying saying bye-elections by the end of March 2011

Byelections 'by end March 2011' - The Irish Times - Wed, Sep 29, 2010

But the big question has to be, will the bye-elections and FF's inevitable loss signal the end of the current government? David Davin Power seemed to think so..
