Default Orange Order Rejects DUP-SF Parades Legislation

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland has definitively rejected the Draft Legislation on Parades proosed by a joint SF- DUP working group in the wake of the Hillborough negotiations earlier this year. The decision ensures that the Parades Commission, which the Order refuses to even meet, will be reappointed for a further year.

The news is a severe embarrassment for the DUP which put so much emphasis on securing the abolition of the Parades Commission in return for agreeing the devolution of Policing and Justice powers to Stormont.

LOL - classic. The Nationalist idea of democracy - you elect people then you obey their orders.

The Orange Order survive on the siege mentality. Not an inch. Does it really matter whether they agree or not?

    Agreement is preferable to conflict.

Im more than aware of that. However, those words would be better directed at the Orange Order, who live with they're heads in the sand.
