Default Lenihan - Many tough Budgets for years ahead.

Lenny has just stated on RTE 6.1 that we will have many tough budgets for the years ahead.

But thats not what he said during last years Budget, last year we were told that was the last of the tough budgets.

This year we were told that we had turned a corner and their were green shoots.

But yet we can continue to bail out failed banks and bondholders.

    you couldnt make it up.

Before the budget, Minister Lenihan announced that future budgets were not going to be so tough. He then started his Budget speech with the following bold claim:
Today, I can report that notwithstanding the difficulties of the last eight months, we are now on the road to economic recovery.

E30bn revenue and E50bn expenditure would lead one to the conclusion that several years pain are required. Are you surprised by what seems incredibly reasonable fact?

3 budgets in 12 months. You would think he would have made quite a dent in that 20 billion deficit by now. He obviously does not have a clue what he is doing as well as none about what he is saying.
