    Default Policing the Ploughing Championships

Anyone trying to access the site, or the town, or making their way through it this morning would have had a sickener. No cops on duty in Emily Square. Over an hour to get through the kip today. One wonders what is the function of the local Superintendent. He obviously hasn't a clue.

What would you have had them do? Traffic is always crap in athy, 20 minutes to get through the town on a normal day isn't unusual so 3 times that during the ploughing is hardly shocking.

When it was properly policed last year it was possible to get through Athy in about 5 minutes. Gardaí everywhere. This year it was horrendous

Had no problem getting there or back home this eve or either of the other days. Thought job was well done by all involved!

For the vast majority of the time this year the traffic flowed very smoothly, problems yesterday morning were more natures fault than the Gardai's.
