This should be interesting. How is 1 man to do a proper 'investigation'?

If I was of a cynical nature I'd say there's an unusual amount of Government activity and positive sound bites going the rounds today.

It's as though a certain Rip Van Winkle has been rudely aroused and told to make it appear like he occasionally manages to get a few important things done - before he gets his marching orders.

Procedures: make some noise, ruffle a few (low-ranked feathers), have the occasional press release, submit a report to the MoF that roughly matches what he has already been told.

    Rules: KNOW YOUR PLACE.

Doing a bit of research and found this fellow was also appointed to the same position back in July and there was a thread here. What happened with that investigation?

He apparently was just appointed AGAIN today according to the DoF Press release.

Default Head of Banking Commission of Investigation paid €1,000 a day

The Department of Finance has confirmed that €1,000 a day is being paid to the head of the Banking Commission of Investigation.

In a Parliamentary Question reply to Fine Gael, finance officials also revealed Peter Nyberg is receiving a monthly allowance of €4,000 for travel and accommodation.

The inquiry, led by the former Finnish senior civil servant, began its work last month and is due to complete its report by next March.

Any suggestions for the terms of reference?

The PAC will now draw up terms of reference for an inquiry, which can establish facts but cannot make findings.

Will Biffo turn up? This could affect the turnover of Diageo.
