Default Kenny - "Sheehan an embarrassment but I didn't know the details"

Link below - RTE reporting that Enda only just became fully aware of what happened. So . . . eh . . . what did you tell the Sergeant to ignore exactly on the night if you only just now found out the details of what happened?

Quite possible he didn't know the details. If a had a mate mouthing off to the bouncer while drunk I would quite probably say to the bouncer "ignore what he is saying, he is drunk" without being particularly interested in knowing what it was he was saying or why he was kicked out. Kenny in no way obstructed the Garda in the course of her work. What he told her was not to be offended by the aimless mutterings of an aging drunk. Most people would agree with that sentiment.

If he's an ageing drunk what was he doing as Deputy Agriculture Spokesman? If Kenny had balls and integrity he would have had him expelled from the party

There are other things to be concerned about rather than the drunken ramblings of some aging impotent blueshirt.

He retiring at the next election anyway.

Exactly. And from the link in the OP:

The Fine Gael leader said he had only just became fully aware of the details of the exchange between Mr Sheehan and the garda that took place at the Dáil.
Note the word "fully". Its fairly obvious that Kenny wasn't there for the whole exchange, and probably just caught the end of it. And told the Garda not to pay any attention to Sheehan's bluster. Pity the OP couldn't have read his own link before posting it.

I'm surprised that every article I've read of this incident doesn't make much comment on the fact he was driving drunk, which is an utterly selfish (and matter of resignation imo) act.

His actual comments make me think of Fianna Fáil and the phrase "Same ************************, different day."

That's a bit much. So he was drunk. That doesn't mean he's permanently drunk, and thus unfit to do a job. He was drunk on the night in question.

Think we should restrain our enthusiasm to have a go at Kenny until we get the facts--the Garda Commissioner is currently carrying out an investigation would more important to look at the competence of the Taoiseach and to advance reasons why he should not be sacked

Why is this incident only coming out now? It happened way back in July! Smells of dirty tricks to me .

Of course its dirty tricks. I wonder what's in the Garda disciplinary code about leaking internal reports to national newspapers?
