    Default Scrapping the national anthem

I posted about this on facebook and I got grief but alas I'l throw it out here you lot.For the national anthem could we not just write something new and Im not talking about that rubbish Irelands Call or whatever that crap is. Get a neutral person to write us a tune that we can all listen to and that doesnt warble on about "Yonder saxon foe" or some other contrived anti British sentiment.

I think we have bigger fish to fry right now.

you jest surely ? this has got to be the most pressing issue we have, the autumn internationals are starting shortly and then its the 6 nations, this crisis has to be resolved before then.....

Yeah , the fact that it mentions Fianna Fail in its first line is reason enough to get rid of it

Could we not ban all anthems, just have the lads run on to the pitch, toss a coin to decide which end, and then get on with the game.

I know Mary may not get her free seat anymore as there is no need for her to attend.

Glitter and sparkle and Eurovision-esque, I just wanna see John Hayes wiggle to the beat....

Could we not get something a bit more operatic or something in Irish with a modern twist?

I think you'll find the anthem came before the FF party.

As did the Irish Volunteers from where the phrase 'Fianna Fail' comes from.

Should we also scrap the Defence Forces because the Army cap badge contains the letters FF?
