Default Loyalist Paramilitaries and their 'Legitimate Targets'

Another Nationalist myth (regularly dusted off and posted on this forum) is that the Loyalist paramilitaries were sectarian monsters who didn't care who they killed as long as they were a catholic. I thought it might be useful to list all of those killed throughout The Troubles by the UVF/UFF/UDA/RHC/etc who would be classed as 'legitimate targets' by those organisations.

Before the usual Nationalists arrive to call me a sectarian, bigoted troll (it's getting a bit boring to be honest) can I just say that I regard no-one as a 'legitimate target'.

I believe all violence is wrong - especially to further a political agenda - and I have repeatedly stated that I opposed Loyalist violence throughout The Troubles as it allowed the IRA to present themselves as the defenders of the catholic community (despite killing over 600 of them themselves).

However, it is wrong to label Loyalists as random, sectarian killers when many of their 'operations' involved meticulous planning and military precision. That is what the list below aims to show.

When deciding on who should be classed as a 'legitimate target' I thought I would judge each killing by what the IRA and Sinn Fein would claim to have been legitimate PIRA targets. The Provisional IRA would have classed the following as 'legitimate targets':

British security forces (on-duty, off-duty or retired)
    Loyalist paramilitaries (present or former)
Unionist politicians and party members (UUP, DUP, UDP, PUP and independents)
Anyone providing support/materials to British security forces or Loyalist paramilitaries
    Loyalists implicated in 'Supergrass' cases
    Members of the Orange Order
Witnesses in court cases of Republicans

Based on that I felt we could class any of the following as 'legitimate targets' of the Loyalist paramilitaries:

    PIRA members or former prisoners
    OIRA members or former prisoners
    INLA members or former prisoners
    IPLO members of former prisoners
    Former internees
Sinn Fein members or election workers
    IRSP members or election workers
Workers Party members or election workers
    SDLP members or politicians
Members of the paramilitary Catholic Ex-Servicemen's Association
Members or players of the GAA (provided support and assistance to the IRA and INLA)
Members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians
Members of the West Belfast Taxi Association (provided support, income and assistance to the IRA and were involved in the murders of Corporals Woods and Howes)
Anyone providing support or finance to the Republican Movement
Witnesses in court cases of Loyalists

The following 110 people killed by Loyalist paramilitaries are 'legitimate targets':

It's pretty hard to see what the purpose of this thread is other than to gloat over deaths caused by loyalist paramilitaries.

I'm merely judging these killings based on the 'rules of war' established by the IRA and Sinn Fein.

If the PIRA claim people selling fruit and vegetables or building materials to army bases or working as cleaners in RUC stations are 'legitimate targets' because they are helping the British security forces then anyone associated with the GAA (who have provided support to the IRA and INLA for decades) also have to be classed in the same way.

    I didn't make the rules.

    That's an obvious lie.

He is not claiming they are not "innocent". He is making a comparison with IRA murdered and stating, not unreasonably, that judging by the IRA's standards, they would be legitimate targets.

It generally helps if you read, and attempt to understand, a thread, before going ballistic.
