Thread: Kildare South discussion

  1. #1

    Default Kildare South discussion

A thread just for Kildare South.

Current TDs as per the 2007 GE results:

    Sean O'Fearghial (FF)
    Sean Power (FF)
    Jack Wall (Lab)

Now that Sean Power has publicly said he doesn't support Cowen, how do you think the FF seats in Kildare South will fall?

Thread on it here - http://www.politics.ie/leinster/1330...ack-cowen.html

It looks like there will only be 1 FF elected, but it could be a right old duel between the 2 Seans for that seat.

FF will find it very hard to hold 2 out of 3 in any 3 seater come the next election.

Power is known to Old Newbridge, even though he is from Caragh in Naas.
The average New Newbridge would have no idea who he is or who his father was. Power's publically funded dogsbody, Pat Black, lost his KCC seat in the last LE.

Newbridge is no longer a FF town.

New newbridge may turn out in numbers to voice their view next time round. Which will see Sean P in trouble, I Think.

Power has a very tenuous hold on his seat. If FG have a proper candidate I expect Power to lose which would be some achievement for him. I have never seen him take a stand on any issue. Maybe he's hoping that his slight anti-Cowen stand may swing a few old school FF votes his way
