The book totally contradicts any post-modern theory claiming a ďPalestinian heritage,Ē or Palestinian nation. https://palestineisraelconflict.word...-palestinians/

No, you see the problem is that with Iran, Afghanastan and Pakistan it is hard to tell which side are the terrorists.

With the Israel it's fairly obvious.

Once again the supporters of Israel defend it by saying look, we are just the same as all the rest of the nutters around here, Hamas, Al Qaeda, etc etc.

Israel lays claim to be a modern western state, until it abandons that charade then it will provoke the ire of people in the West left and right.

Personally I feel that Islam and its adherents are a severe threat to Europe, but there can be no doubt that Israel is as much a threat to peace in the Middle East as any of the loons there.

The state of Israel has a duty to defend it's citizens. Whether you like the way it does that or not is irrelevant.

So why didnít we hear from the Irish Left?
Err, the Irish left was very much against the war in Iraq which lifted the lid on this particular Pandora's box.

It was right wing Israeli supporting nutjobs who cheered it on.

Hans Blix is owed an apology.

Exactly but it still can't be irritated when the world starts to view them as part of the lunatic pie. I'm sure their counter parts in Hezebollah etc think exactly the same. Hamas gains its legitimacy thanks to the blocade, Hez. gain theirs from opposition to Israel in the Leb. while in Israel its leaders gain power acting tough against the first two.

I'm of the Left in Ireland and I am copying for you below a post of mine on politics.ie four days ago...

    It's a Multi-Faceted Question

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If this whole Middle East business was simply amenable to solution, it would have been resolved decades ago. There is a contradiction, I think, in a lot of the oul' cant you hear piped out by many of us who live comfortable lives in relatively comfortable western democracies. "The Palestinians are much put upon", I hear you cry...and you're right. HOWEVER...I REJOICE IN THE FACT THAT ISRAEL ALONE CARRIES WESTERN SENTIMENT AND MORES IN AN OTHERWISE THREATENING AND MEDIEVAL AREA. I don't want to live under the mullahs who would tee me up and lop off my hand for some arbitrary crime. I abhor the Islamic view of women and I recoil from the whole prevalent notion of jihadism. I am not a fan of the DUP, but I'm certainly a flag-waver for the putative 51st State...Israel. Long may it prosper and have the balls to take on the fundamentalist threat.

The left leaning, anti-American, islam defenders should read people like Christopher Hitchens and Nick Cohen who highlight the inconsistencies in the arguments of these people. They would only feel shame if they were honest with themselves

I don't want to live under the Israeli's whose sniper's shoot children in the head.

I don't want to live under the Israeli's who would run me over with a bulldozer for protesting against there actions.

I don't want to live under the Israeli's who commit acts of piracy and murder civilians.

I don't want to live under the Israeli's who flout international law.

I don't want to live under the Israeli's who carry out assassinations and kidnappings in European countrys with impunity.

Does it ever occur to Israelis that many of us in Europe would like to think better of their country, and that we expect them to to have higher standards than those in force in some nut-job theocracy?
So saying "islamist nut-jobs are just as bad as us" doesn't really forward your arguement. In fact rather the reverse, I'm afraid.
