Default What are political parties doing to bring right people into Dail?

We don't need teachers, social workers, barristers, doctors, etc etc in the Dail.

We need entrepreneurs, economists, people with a knowledge of High Tech and IT and business leaders.

So now it's coming near the time to select candidates for the next election.

And what is the party you support doing to bring people of the right background into the Dail? Because after all, come election time, the people can only vote for the candidates put before them, so if they end up with a choice between former teacher from FG, former teacher from FF or former teacher from Labour, then a former teacher is going to be elected to the Dail.

So what candidates are your party putting forward for the next election? And is there a way to rid the Dail and candidate list of barristers, teachers and similar (mostly sons and daughters of gombeen politicians).

The political parties give us what we want, what we vote for every time. We vote for gombeens, local ward bosses and culchicrats. And that is exactly what that parties give us.

I think I already stated we don't need gombeens, yet immediately you list out gombeens.

    Care to do better?

By the way we don't need union gombeens either, even though a number have ended up in the Dail over the years.

We need young people with knowledge of IT, High Tech, and economics.

And the one rule I would set is, they must never have met Bertie Ahern.

And why would said people run for office when they'll get gob********************es complaining because there is a pothole in the road or the streetlights aren't working? And then get turfed out in five years.

Its one reason why a list system in theory could work but we only need to look back at the last few years of government to see the types of people that would be on a list.

Sorry but it looks like you're getting an 'ex' union leader and his trade union cronies next time out. It's 'Change' don't you know.

I agree with you, Gilmore doesn't represent change, he's as inside as you can get, the Nick Clegg of Ireland.

Who are Labour going to run? Ivana Bacik? Great, another double or tripple jobber, from a law background.

Do we not have enough people in the Dail already with a law background?

Alex White? Isn't be a barrister too?

The rest are just Party hacks from what I can see, rewarded for years of getting potholes fixed with a nomination for the election.
