Default O’Dea in Dail battle over ‘lie’: Sunday Times

Fine Gael will force Brian Cowen to defend Willie O’Dea in the Dail this week after the defence minister was accused of giving false evidence on oath in a High Court libel case.
The matter has already been raised in the Seanad by Eugene Regan, Fine Gael’s spokesman on justice in the upper house, who accused O’Dea of committing perjury, questioned the minister’s fitness for office and suggested he resign. “We have been used to ministers lying, but ministers lying on oath is a new low,” said Regan

At long last, somebody is beginning to move to get at the court jester O'Dea. Maybe FG are beginning to get a bit of bottle after all.

O’Dea denies perjury and says he made an honest mistake. He has sent a solicitor’s letter to The Sunday Times seeking an apology, damages and legal costs in response to an opinion column about his affidavit in last week’s edition.
This is not going to go away for O'Dea.

Haughey sacked Brian Lenihan for pushing out two inconsistent stories. The PDs insisted on the sacking. What is moron Harney doing about O'Dea? Oh sorry, she probably hasn't woken up since O'Dea admitted it all. Let her sleep. She's doing a lot less damage than when awake.

At last some smart politics from FG. They could have done this ages back but Kenny the ditherer dodged it... just the same way he dodged bringing up Ahern's finances in the 2007 campaign

Looks like the Lee story has forced him to up his game

And it was hypocricy. Did it because the PDs threatened to pull out of gov if he didn't. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given a toss.
