Default UN finally starts giving food relief three weeks after the quake, but only to women

Men, whose wives were killed in the earthquake, will be denied food relief for their families from the United Nations.

The UN has begun a large-scale aid distribution in Haiti's capital, aiming to feed two million people nearly three weeks after the deadly earthquake. Only women will be able to collect the aid from 16 centres, exchanging vouchers for sacks of rice to give to their children and families.

This is an organisation that preaches "equality" (at least their definition of it) to countries throughout the world yet practice outrageous discrimination themselves.

I think this is largely to do with the racketeering and black market going's on as law and order is the biggie their now. Sticking to handing food to women is just an idea their using to do what they can, its not as if the UN want any more bad media reports while they try and catch up with Unc. Sam.

I see. So "equality" need only apply when it is in the interest of the efficient working of an organisation.

Equality is not an end in itself.

    So speaketh the UN.

It is simply because past attempts to distribute food failed with violence breaking out. Every time it was tried it had to be cancelled, often as armed gangs tried to steal it. Limiting it to women is seen as a way to limit the violence because to date it has largely been men in the queues, not women who have been violent and women in Haiti are not in the gangs, only men. So food distribution is less likely to be disrupted if they know armed gangs cannot infiltrate those waiting for the food.

They have to do something to get the food out. This is the most workable solution.

This is standard stuff from the people who brought you man made climate change and the criminal IPCC.

The sooner Ireland stops kow towing to the UN the better.

Advise donors to stop giving any more aid to Haiti.

So no food for homosexual couples and their children?

If this was an organisation other than the UN you'd be jumping up and down.

    Makes sense.

I doubt there are many or any homosexuals in Haiti and if there are then they live amongst the elite and would not require the food aide. Homosexuality requires a base standard of living to make it feasible, a base standard that most in Haiti to not meet. Even less likely is that poor homosexuals would have children in Haiti.

It does. But it makes sense to check Black Kids in London for knives as they mostly commit knife crimes. It makes sense to put Muslims through extra security checks as they are most likely to blow up the plane. It makes sense to monitor Travellers as they are most likely to have their children beg and steal. Any chance of any of those things happening?

    Really?

Is it because they is black?

No doubt Colm O'Gorman and other highly paid rent-a-mouths will ignore this discrimination. It doesn't suit their biased agenda.

Yes but that would be racist or bigoted. What you suggesting is negative discrimination where as the UN is engaging in positive discrimination. What is happening in Haiti is only temporary. The food has to be got to the people without violence and the approach implemented by the UN accomplishes this as best as is possible with the limited resources available. I do not see why you need to make a big deal out of this?

No it is because they are poor.
