Default Child porn garda is still serving after seven years

A GARDA who admitted downloading child pornography at Garda Headquarters is still serving with the force more than seven years after first being arrested.

Garda Darach Kennedy, who had a nolle prosequi entered against him on the day his trial was due to begin, is currently the subject of disciplinary proceedings.

He continues to serve at a station in Co Meath despite admitting during questioning he had downloaded sexual images of boys as young as eight. The Garda Press Office declined to comment on the matter, and refused to even confirm that Garda Kennedy was still a serving member.

And people question whether the cops were complicit in Catholic church pedophilia.

Has anyone ever come up with a reason why his prosecution did not go ahead?

He was all set to have a trial when suddenly the case was dropped. Why?

It is cases like this that severely test peoples trust in the gardai.

In 2005 Judge White had advised when Garda Kennedy's trial was due to start that the DPP should instigate an investigation into the publishing by 'Ireland on Sunday' of an article dealing with the scheduled trial. The article named Gda Kennedy and purported to report on the argument his defence team was to put forward. Judge White said it was his view that if a juror had read the article it would damage the prosecution rather than the defence case and suggested it was a matter of inquiry for the DPP.

The Garda was going to enter a Not Guilty plea if the case went ahead.

    Cool

Why am I not surprised? The sad fact is that there are just far too many thugs serving in the Garda. Indeed, one thug would be too many anyway. It may be that one reason is the savagery with which that arch-reactionary organisation the Garda Representative Body automatically responds in knee-jerk fashion to any criticism of its members, no matter how vile they are.

By right, the GRA, if it weren't headed by such a crowd of ignorant thicks, would have the sense to see that removing a bad apple is in the interests of the whole barrel and that the many members of the force who are honest, diligent and decent are having to suffer for the disrepute into which swine like that child porn Garda, the two convicted a few days ago for assaulting a person who used a camera in a public place, etc. etc., bring all Gardai, good and bad. Then there was the item on the radio a few days ago about the man who asked Gardai why they were driving on the pavement, was assaulted by them, handcuffed, bundled into a squad care and ..... And don't get me started on Donegal, which is sui generis ...

A mother I have known since childhood had to launch a campaign several years ago to have a Garda removed from the force. Her own father was a Garda and she was born in a Garda station, so she naturally found it disgusting that a member of the force who killed her teacher son and gravely injured his brother in a hit-and-run accident on New Year's Eve, while he was stepping-on-his-dick drunk incidentally, was given a slap-on-the-wrist fine by the judge and was still serving in the force over a year later. In the traffic control division at that, I kid you not!

It was only after she taught herself how to use a computer, launched a web site and gave dozens of interviews to newspapers and radio stations that the fellow finally came under so much pressure that he resigned from the force.

There will never be respect for law and order in Ireland until the Garda puts its own house in order. Let Fachtna Murphy spout all the pious sentiments he wants about community spirit, yadda, yadda. What really matters is action, not least cleaning up his own community. And we haven't seen much of that from him.

I happen to know that "Community Person of the Year" very well, and she is a truly deserving winner, but what is she doing in such dubious company as that baldy fellow on the left?

I am simply stunned - if this is true, then this man is a danger to children, simple as that, he has deviant, sexual urges that mean he must be monitored and denied any access to children.

The Gardai, typical of most public servants in this country, seem to believe that the Garda Siochana exists to provide them with a job - until that attitude is broken and they realise that they are here to serve everyone in the state, without fear or favour, then they will always act thus.

Sadly, they do not serve everyone in the state, there is a hierarchy to their response and many do not fall into their 'catchment area'.
