    Default Jeremy Clarkson silenced?

    Torybear says so:

    Times Silence Clarkson

Did you read Jeremey Clarkson's column in the Sunday Times? No? Nor did the Bear until they pulled it after some lefties sniffled. Yes it's moderately insulting to a broad range of countries but what were you expecting when you read an article by Clarkson? Come on. If you don't want to be offended, don't read offensive peoples work. It's not rocket science.
I didn't hear anything about it, but thankfully TB has decided to reproduce the article in full:

    And here it is.

Just read the paper 20 mins ago and wondered who would raise this... it's written to attract complains so the editors can't exactly have been surprised.

Publish and be damned and all that.

To complain about the article or to complain about others complaining about the article is like complaining about the weather.. rather pointless but very predictable

To be fair it wasn't his best, and why no mention of Ireland on his review of potential Euro residences.. was this published in the Irish Sunday Times... the bloody cheek.. where's the green ink when you need it.

Peter Mandelson is not left wing.
He is a PC nut but apart from that he is as establishment as it is possible to be.

Controlling and paternalistic is not left wing or right wing it is just authoritarian.
Otherwise a typical Clarkson article, nothing offensive by his usual standards.

And they see Alistair Darling handing over £4,350 of their money to not sort out the banking crisis that he doesn’t understand because he’s a small-town solicitor, and they see the stupid war on drugs and the war on drink and the war on smoking and the war on hunting and the war on fun and the war on scientists and the obsession with the climate and the price of train fares soaring past £1,000 and the Guardian power-brokers getting uppity about one shot baboon and not uppity at all about all the dead soldiers in Afghanistan, and how they got rid of Blair only to find the lying twerp is now going to come back even more powerful than ever, and they think, “I’ve had enough of this. I’m off.”
Clarkson just shot right through my quality rater! Waaaaay beyond ferrari and lambo!!!!

I was impressed by his precise brevity when characterising the Swiss:

you can’t go to Switzerland because you will be reported to your neighbours by the police and subsequently shot in the head if you don’t sweep your lawn properly
    That did make me laugh.

Perhaps it was pulled because it was such self-indulgent nonsense, (although I remember reading it. So it must have been in the Irish edition.)

Clarkson is morphing into Evelyn Waugh, or any one of those harrumphing, clubbable, brandy-imbibing old ranting Tories, sitting in the library of their country houses, fearing that the "mob" is at the gates. World gone to pot....no standards.....damned Socialists ruining everything...fuzzy-wuzzies everywhere....can't get a decent port....or servants, since the War....harrumph etc. etc. A Kevin Myers who can drive.

Its amazing when you're a rich, over-indulged laddish celebrity, who has parlayed a very small talent into a lucrative "career", how little it takes to annoy you.

About the same as it takes to annoy a fuzzy-wuzzie, froathing at the mouth, self-important, lets all share and hold hands, I know what's best for you internet socialist... or so it would seem.
