    Default Saddam Hussein is dead

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been executed by hanging at a secure facility in northern Baghdad for crimes against humanity.

Iraqi TV said the execution took place just before 0600 local time (0300GMT). A representative of the prime minister and a Sunni Muslim cleric were present.

Footage of him being led to the gallows was later shown on Iraqi state TV.

    From the BBC

Opinion is split on the execution of Saddam Hussein.

A total travesty of injustice, A show trial of Political and Sectarian revenge and interferance by the coalition. The hypocrisy stinks.A blind man could see this was a show trial and nothing else.

An Arab martyr has now been created of which Jihad will be carried out in his memory. Whats the feckin point in the principles of democracy?

Sad thing is only poor Iraqis will most likely to be affected by the insuing violence in the short term. if the west gets another 9-11 or Madrid or London 7-7, only 1 thing to say about that. You reap what you sow.
Allah have mercy on all Iraqi souls.

Foolish of them to do it on Eid al Adha - the Muslim holy day normally associated with clemency and release of prisoners. Would it have killed them to wait until tomorrow, or even next week when Hajj is over?
That's the sort of thing that drives people who were borderline into the insurgency, and people who were "freedom fighters" into lunatics.

    Default Martyr

Let's see what happens now. I don't agree with capital punishment and I believe that this will make a Martyr out of Saddam who was not a man deserving of such a place in history.

I think it is inevitable that this will be seen by Muslims as American justice and will most likely harden the resistance to the Americans, further destabilising Iraq. This is not good!

THe American-British Empire War project gets rid of its unnecessary rubbish at last. I mean, you don't want Saddam Hussein alive to talk about all the CIA deals he did during his term of office, now do you?

Crimes against humanity hmmm! Bush and Blair must be next then. Bush can't have any complaints about facing the noose given his relish for capital punishment but it now seems that Blair accepts hanging as being OK if carried out in an Arab state unless Margaret Beckett has spoken out of turn.

The western world can teach the rest of the world nothing now expcept perhaps how to make Weapons of Mass destruction. I am absolutely sickened. America should bow its head in shame today!

For the sake of everything: exploitation and the destruction of the environment , world peace, we need the rest of teh world to stand up to America united. How to do this in Europe when we have such a conflict of interest even in our own country? It should be clear now even to those of us on the right that America needs to be stopped soon!
