In Galway, Mike Cubbard is running Independent, I think he is 24. Couple of other young candidates - James Hope (Green) is 20s, I think, and Paul Connaughton Jr in the county is also 20s. In Limerick one of FF's local candidates, Brian Stokes, is 24.

I know a few from Sinn Féin.

Donnacha O'Laoghaire a member of Ógra is running in Cork as well as Ken Aherne I think.

In Dublin we have Ruadhán Mac Aodhán in Dublin's North Inner City, Oisín Ó Dubhláin in Pembroke Rathmines who both started in Ógra.

Peadar De Bluit as well is running in Kilkenny County.

Cant think of any others off the top of my head. All are good activists and have good politics. Ruadhán or Ken would be the oldest I think but that mid twenties even so.

Good luck to them and fair fecks for going for it.

I have seen a lot of pages for young candidates on facebook. I have to say, it turns me right off when I see them describe their political views as moderate, or when they try to hide the party affiliation.

I generally like to see young candidates, though I usually wince a little if I see a familiar political name. I particularly like when young candidates have fresh policy ideas or use innovative campaigning techniques rather than just trying to be like other politicians.

I'm sure there are posters on here who are either young candidates or are campaigning for young candidates. Would they like to post links to campaign pages or some interesting or worthy things about their candidacies (sp?)

What is O'Duffy youth? You really need to move with the times and read up Fine Gael's history and the history of the Blueshirts.

That really annoys me as well when candidates try to hide what party they are running for. Loads of FF candidates are doing that. There is guy in particular who I know is running for FF and he doesn't mention it anywhere in Facebook advertisement.
