Thanks for that - a very polished performance. Even if her ideas are completely mental.

'Completely mental', as opposed the the 'sanity' that has the State in the state it is? She made perfect sense to me-a solid, down to earth citizen, speaking the plain truth, uncontaminated by the political system. Go Debra, go!

Could the Republican primary for Governor in Texas end up in a runoff between Rick Perry...and Debra Medina? Medina is coming on strong and polls now at 24%, just four points behind Kay Bailey Hutchison's 28%. Perry continues to hold a double digit advantage at 39%.

Default Debra Medina is changing minds with astonishing poll results of likely Texas GOP vote

Debra Medina’s astonishing lift in poll results of likely Republican voters is causing unprecedented consideration in the Texas gubernatorial candidate primary election of March 2, 2010.

Tuesdays (February 9, 2010) survey by Public Policy Polling indicates that out of likely voters, Governor Rick Perry does not have the 50%+ votes needed to avoid a runoff election in April.

Debra Medina is on fire right now - if her support keeps growing at this rate who knows what might happen.

she is third in the Republican race (she still beats the front running Democrat though). She has no major endorsers unlike Palin for Perry (he gets a lot of other big names not known in Ireland like Haley Barbour) or G. H. W. Bush and Dick Cheney for Hutchinson. Perry has all the benefits of an incumbent in a state that has not experienced the brunt of the recession. My money is on him

Default Texas Melee

A wild Texas GOP primary is getting wilder. A new poll out Tuesday shows Tea Partier Debra Medina trailing Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison by a mere four points, within the poll's margin of error.

The Public Policy Poll shows Governor Rick Perry leading the field for the Republican gubernatorial nomination with 39% of GOP voters. But he would need a majority of the vote on March 2 to secure an outright victory -- any less and he's headed toward a run-off. Not only is such a run-off looking more likely with the rise of Ms. Medina, formerly the Wharton County GOP chairwoman. But if Ms. Hutchison doesn't move quickly to shore up her support among conservatives, the candidate who once polled as Texas's favorite politician may end up the odd woman out.

If she could force a run-off that would be great

Meanwhile, other issues on the Texas ballot this Nov:
Ballot Proposition #4: Public Acknowledgement of God

The use of the word “God”, prayers, and the Ten Commandments should be allowed at public gatherings and public educational institutions, as well as be permitted on government buildings and property.

The Dallas Morning News reports Medina's interview on Glen Beck's radio show, Beck asked her if she thought the US government had any involvement in the destruction of the World Trade Center:
Quote:
I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard," she replied. "There's some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I've not taken a position.
