I heard that interview as well and he failed to give a coherent answer as to why he resigned. (Though it is not easy on that programme as the presenter wants to spend the entire time giving her opinions).


Oddly, he didn't mention that Labour should gain many Dails eats in the next GE and are short of good candidates.

I think it simply indicates that it is not to do with Sinn Fein adopting a wrong set of policies as they resigned for a variety of reasons and held a variety of positions. In all of this Sinn Féin can expect to replace those who leave as there are always plenty of highly able people willing to work for and stand for Sinn Féin

Just saw this post in amongst all the commentary about Killian. First of all though I would very much welcome Killian into Labour if he joins us. He is a progressive individual committed to making a real difference and he would have a welcome home and role in Labour.

In relation to your own posting above while I have made it very clear that i would like to do the job I would not be so presumptive. We have a number of potential quality candidates for this post. I would like to go before a Convention for this and obviously would like to win but i d have respect for my fellow members and hope to speak with as many as I can in the coming months about my views on the role and potential for a Mayor of and for Dublin.

I got my hands on a document today that was sent to the officer board of Dublin SF after the June elections, and did make a set of proposals. From what I can determine, few if any of them have been acted upon, and no response was provided to the author.

I've quoted those recommendations and given my own brief analysis as an outsider looking in on a post entitled Sinn Féin problems in Dublin

But why was this basically middle class brat who wouldnt have touched Sinn Fein with a barge pole in all probability when it was important (i.e. when the war was going on) appointed? You should be glad be left....But losing the likes of Christie Burke should make you think seriously.

Killian will be sitting with the labour party at the council meeting tomorrow night.

I suppose one should congratulate the Labour party on their "coup" here(they just pipped FG).I think SF were asleep when Labour supported Killian as chair of the finance committee they shoul have seen what was around the corner.Word has it that labour still have one SF concillor in their sites.
