Default O'Gormon criticises "all parties" over rape crisis

The newly selected PD candidate for Wexford, Colm O'Gormon, criticised all parties following his nomination yesterday. He also described the new legislation as flawed and called for a review of it.

Couldn't agree with him more, myself. I felt that McDowell's original legislation was much more in tune with the realities of teenage life, while protecting children and teenagers from predatory pedophiles.

McDowell's proposed legislation was daft, by making it legal for 14 year olds to have sex you may as well eb encouraging them to so without them even being out of puberity let alone wise enough to make such a decision.

If O' Gorman is so offended by point-scoring, manipulation and "game-playing", then why did he misrepresent and tell blatant lies about the FG policies on crime and health to the Enniscorthy Guardian last month?

If O' Gorman doesn't like point-scoring, then he shouldn't really be smearing and misrepresenting other parties like this, for political gain.
But then again, having joined the PDs in the first place he is no stranger to hypocrisy

Your alternative in a case where two 14 years olds had a child between them being...to criminalise them both?

In fairness Deefour, many would see this as an attempt by a PD general election candidate to deflect attention from his off-the-cuff* comments attacking the Minister for Justice (a PD I think ) last week over the 'A' case.

* at least, I can only assume they were off the cuff.

By the way, we don't need another thread to discuss the A case, so if we want to keep this about O'Gorman and PDs, that's just fine.

How quickly the erstwhile victims advocate turns partisan-political when faced with an electoral mauling at the hands of young Mick D'Arcy.
