Default Blame George Lee

Apparently George Lee was to have been our saviour; now that he has resigned, the country will finally collapse. We should have a thread to document the ruin he has brought upon us all by rejecting the mighty Enda Kenny and those crusaders for socio-economic justice, Fine Gael. Historians of the future will thank us for it, I'm sure. I'll start it:

1. Bank of Scotland had been planning to pull out of Ireland last year, but it didn't take long after George entered the Dáil for it to change it's mind. Now that he has resigned, they clearly see no future in the Irish banking sector, and have jumped ship quicker that an ex-economics correspondent.

To indicate his wrath at George leaving FG, God sends a plague of butter containers.

Enda Kenny has captured a butterfly in the garden, and he's not letting this one go. Oh no.

I've just found this prediction from Nostradamus

Quatrain 8:2:10
"When the Lee leaves the great house by the Liffey

The Gaels will cry out 'for pities sake' and then the emerald shall be turned to dust"

I had Valentine's plans until George quit.

I composed a little ditty in the memory of Ireland's favourite false dawn, and it goes to the tune of Vincent, from Don McLean

Should any inspired songster place it to music and maybe make a nice little video I am sure you'll make it to the late night radio / tv shows anyhow

George

Starry, starry-eyed.
His grandkids would recall with pride
How gramps turned back the fiscal tide
And made Ireland a place where hope could grow

Statues in the Park
Raised to his patriotic lark
He'd make an economic Ark
And steer us through the storms of fiscal woe

Now we understand, your fury was all for TV
You were not Ireland's Gen'ral Lee
You couldn't stand to make their tea
They didn't listen, so don't have a cow.
They sure won't listen now.

Starry, starry-eyed
George needed a thicker hide
Took Enda for an awful ride
With eyes that promised votes across the board

Shadows in the Dail
Are all that's left of Georgie's bawl
His pride took an almighty fall
As too near the sun he found out he had soared

Now they understand, the blueshirts spurned by Georgie Lee
How they'd suffer for your vanity,
How from your promises you'd flee.
You wouldn't fit in, you did not know how.
Where will you fit in now?

For they did not promote you
And your committee fell through
And when no hope was left inside
No longer starry, starry-eyed
You took your leave as bluffers often do
But I could have told you George
The Dail was never meant for one
As hubris-filled as you

Starry, Starry-eyed
George claimed the Gaels to him had lied
The talk-show hosts gladly complied
And spread his tales of treachery and tears

But he shot his load too soon
That's how George Lee blew the boon
Granted to a mere garsun
By people who understood that change takes years

Now I think I know what you said George Lee
When you railed against your committee
When you failed at being TD
You didn't get it, you don't get it still
Perhaps you never will
