Northern Ireland will be a prime target for them, a colonial prize for their past antics.

Environment Secretary Hilary Benn wants local authorities across the UK to consider providing what he called an
'essential service to the nation'.

I wonder if Nuclear Sammy will be up for this, considering recent statements - will he be happy for his constituency (any of them) to be used as a nuclear waste dump?

good christ, a UK minister invites all UK local councils to consider locations for nuclear waste and you somehow manage to turn it into a unionist bashing oppertunity ? just what makes you think NI will be a "prime target", no where in the article does it mention sites in NI being either suitable or prime targets......

and why unionists would want same any more than any other council in the UK...... is it just cos they are unionists and as such sycophantic lap dogs of the westminister gov ?

What a stupid suggestion.
Local authorities in NI have the same rights /responsibilities as any other local government within the UK.
They will not be treated any differently!

Eh I think you'll find that the small matter of 9 DUP votes yesterday means that local authorities in NI are anything but the same as other UK ones and will very much be given whatever they want.

The suggestion is still stupid because Hillary Benns request is directed to English Authorities.
The Welsh Scottish and NI Councils are exempt
