Well, I suppose the French or Americans haven't given them passports so you must be talking about voting in the Presidential elections of the Republic of Ireland.

I have never really understood why Northern Irish people got Irish passports, I suppose voting wouldn't be a huge leap, really.

Well there is the thing of not living in this jurisdiction.

It's irrelevant while the country is divided and our sovereignty is being usurped by the British.

.
I dont understand where this term "northern irish" comes from.
Im irish, to me youre "southern irish" or a free stater to be more exact.
I cant be british as i dont live in britain so how is it hard to understand why someone in ireland can have an irish passport?
If i can join the irish army surely im entitled to a passport.
If my family have been murdered for being irish, who are you to say i am not?
Your lack of understanding could be called ignorance, read the GFA if you want answers, until then youre makey upy nationalities and opinions on who is irish are meaningless.
I am irish because the law of your duristiction says i am, and many other obvious reasons.
The right to call yourself irish didnt materialise at partition, and only refers to one part of ireland.
Maybe Michael Collins shouldnt have had an irish passport either as he didnt live in ireland as ireland didnt exist until 1948 when one pasrt of it left the commonwealth (as some people believe)

the gfa says you are a resident of the united kingdom , a British subject even though you can claim Irish citizenship, and that the southern governemnt does not regard the territory in which you live as Irish territory . Its British territory , part of the British realm

Being a british subject doesnt mean youre exclusively british.
Thats like saying scottish people dont exist.
No matter what duristiction armagh is in, it will always be in ireland.

Tigrrr, I also know plenty about Winnie the Pooh and Tigger etc, being a Father of a few great kids. But are your comments for real????????????

Anyone born in Ireland is an Irish citizen and are quite entitled to hold an Irish passport There's nohing confusing about it, unless UR a complete rocket!

As for not living in the jurisdiction, well, how do rationalise that with the above!

no it doesnt , it means youve an Irish identity but you live in the united kingdom . The queens realm is signified by the symbols of Ireland , England Scotland and Wales . As is the union jack representative of nations including Ireland . Even the RUC crest comprised of harp and shamrock . That the south permits you to hold its passport is of little concern to them and outisde their control anyway . ( and it keeps you happy) . But the constitutional issue is settled
However permitting the south to organise and over see elections on its terrority would be a challenge of sorts to its sovereignty . It might also upset unionists . The southern parties have an official leinster house policy of not saying or doing anything that could upset unionists , its a point of order . Thats why you cant have a vote , much less a green paper on unity .
